Condé Cox, our host, lives in Jacksonville, Oregon. He has written about wine for the last twelve years, first as the regular wine columnist for the Austin American Statesman newspaper, in Austin, Texas, and for the last few years, as the regular wine columnist for Oregon’s two most food & wine oriented magazines, Portland Monthly and Southern Exposure. Condé has also written for many other wine magazines, including Northwest Palate, Wine Press Northwest, The Wine Report, Touring & Tasting, and Practical Winery & Vineyard. He is Oregon’s only wine writer nominated (in 2004) for the James Beard Award in the category of America’s Best Magazine Wine Writing. Samples of some of his published writing appear in the Free Content section at www.placeintheglass.com.
Condé and his wife, Patricia Bowcock, are former Texas attorneys, and they travel several times each year to the world’s wine regions to explore and report on wine. Condé is currently seeking certification as a Master of Wine, the world’s most respected and rigorous certification as a wine expert. There are currently less than 30 MW’s in the United States, none from Oregon.
